Description:
Reportedly, the occupation authorities ravage 80 dunums of lands around Barkan settlement illegally built on Sarta, the targeted lands were confiscated in the 80s under military orders.
The targeted lands are situated in natural block 9 of Sarta village lands in areas also known as “As-Saleekh” and “Harayiq Aj-Jabal” , and belong to number of farmers, among them: Heirs of Hamid Sarsour , Heirs of Ahmed Matar , Heirs of Abdullah Misleh and Mohammed Salah , the owners have ownership deeds proving they own the land.
Noteworthy, the regional council started constructing 20 new outposts, and opened a new road to facilitate access to the settlement.
During the last four years, Under the Israeli radical right wing government, Israeli settlements are expanding rapidly in the West Bank devouring large part of Palestinian natural resources.
Burkan settlement was constructed on confiscated lands in Haris , Brukin and, Sarta villages in Salfit, it was first an industrial settlement, then the settlement expanded to eat up 2720 dunums , of which 349 dunums are a built up area , the settlement populates 1217 settlers.

16 km west Salfit city, Sarta is edged by Qarawat Bani Hussan (north), Biddya (west), Haris (east) and Bruqin (south).
Sarta is populated (3,382) people according to PCBS 2017 census.
The village has a total area of 5,615 dunums , of which 457 dunums are a built up area.
Sarta is blocked by “Barkan” and “Ariel” settlements from the east, they also ate up areas of Sarta lands, and “Bruchin” settlement from the south. The occupation confiscated (644) dunums of Sarta lands , exploited in colonization:
