A massive force from the occupation army raided on March 17, 2016 the central vegetables market founded at the entrance of Beita nearby the bypass road number 60 and carried out a demolition attack that reached out six vegetables selling points "stands" , two vegetable shops, toilets and electricity poles.
The occupation justified the demolition on the claim of "unlicensed construction". It should be marked that the municipality of Beita received demolition orders on the market during the years 2013-2015. On February 2016, the municipality and other shops in the market received a final demolition order with an objection period of three days only.

The mayor of Beita municipality told Land Research Center that " At time, the municipality embarked on submitting a plea , through Jerusalem Center for Legal Pleadings, to the Beit El colony court but a demolition order was issued before the plea was considered"
He also added:
"the vegetables market is an economic milestone for the area and a source of income for many families and workers". The following table shows information about the affected shop tenants:

An affected owner, Mohammad Hmeidan, told Land Research Center the following: "the occupation wrecked havoc on purpose and threw vegetables out of shops before the demolition took place. Israeli Occupation Forces did not allow any of us to save the interior of shops just to double our losses"
About Beita:
14 km to the south of Nablus, Beita is founded with a total land area of 17622 dunums, of which 1711 dunums are classified as area "C". Beita's built-up area reaches up to 3693 dunums accommodating 10859 people according to the census of 2015.
