Pictures 1-2: The targeted structures while being demolished in Barta’a
The Israeli occupation on the eve of the 1948 war seized vast areas of Barta’a which severely affected the residents of it. The armistice line approved by the UN separated families as part of Barta’a became under the Israeli occupation grip while the eastern part became under the Jordanian control.
Barta’a ash Sharqiya (Eastern Barta’a) although under the Jordanian control has not been spared by the Israeli occupation. The residents and houses are under attack and structures are often targeted with demolition orders on the pretext of unlicensed construction in an area classified C according to Oslo. More than 200 structures are threatened of being demolished and 26 were actually demolished. This is all aims at kicking people out.
