Details:
On 13/06/2013, the Israeli occupation army closed the entrance of ‘Azzun by placing cement blocks along the entrance. The entrance is very important to the town for it links it with bypass no. 55 and is considered a linking point that connects Qalqiliya with the north villages surrounding ‘Azzun. This is the third time the Israeli occupation closes the entrance since the second intifada in 2000.
‘Azzun in lines:
‘Azzun is located on the midway between Nablus and Qalqiliya. It is also located between Qalqiliya and Tulkarm. It is surrounded by a number of villages.
‘Azzun has a total area of 24,000 dunums and has a population of 7985 people. 3 colonies are built on ‘Azzun lands and they are:
- Maale Shomron: Built in 1980, the colony has a total area of 1903 and a built-up area of 216 dunums. 549 colonists live in it (according to a 2004 census).
- Genot Shomron: Built in 1985, the colony’s built-up area is 484 dunums.
- Karni Shomron: Built in 1978, the colony’s built-up area is 1351 dunums. 6270 colonists live in it (according to a 2005 census).
