Hanan situation reflects the situation of several other farmer who own lands in Al Bayada, Khallit Wiswas and Ein al Janina to the south of Burin because their fields have been targeted several times in previous years. On February 2, a group of Israeli colonists ravaged 54 olive trees in the area using saws and axes.

The attack came in response to the establishment of a new village in the area with the name 'Al Manateer'; it was a message sent by the Palestinians to Israel and the whole world saying that they are determined to remain in their lands despite the Israeli brutality and aggressiveness and despite the colonization ghoul which has been devouring Palestinian lands for years.
Al Manateer village was established over lands classified 'B' according to Oslo Accords, yet its establishment brought opposition and discontent to the Israeli war machine and colonial groups. The Israelis attacked the villagers and destroyed the whole village before declaring the area a closed military zone.

It is worthy to mention that 80 % of Burin lands are adjacent to Baracha and Yizhar colonies making it a constant target for Israeli colonists. Most of these lands are inaccessible to the Palestinians.
In recent years, several attacks against Palestinian farmers including incidents of shooting and theft of properties have been recorded in recent years. The colonists receive unquestioned support from the Israeli Occupation Army which encourages them to commit more attacks against the Palestinians.
