A Massive army forces raided Jaradat neighborhood east Sila  Al-Harithiya village west Jenin. Reportedly, in the early morning hours of Monday February 14th 2022, the occupation forces imposed a vicious blockage around a building for Jaradat family, and forced Mahmoud Jaradat(41) and his family to evict the house , before bombing the second floor.

Under Security claims , and accusations of conducting an “operation” against Israeli occupation militants, the occupation authorities arrested Mahmoud Aj-Jaradat and several family members , and issued a military order to bomb his family home . The family received legal aid from HaMoked institution to submit a petition to the Israeli supreme court. However, the petition was refused in February 4th 2022.

The targeted structure is a two floors house, each floor has a total area of 90 m2, the first floor is inhabited by Mahmoud’s mother and three sisters, and Mahdi (Mahmoud’s brother) , his wife and three children.

The second floor is inhabited by Mahmoud, his wife , and three children.

Even though The Occupation forces bombed the second floor, as a natural result, the first floor became also unsuitable for living, so the whole family was rendered homeless.

Regulation 119 of the Defense (Emergency) Regulations, 1945

It should be marked that the order was issued in reference to the British Emergency Law for the year 1945, taking into consideration that this law was abolished. “Confiscation and demolition” according to article 119 of the law indicates that it is not allowed to re-construct in the demolition location. The body of the article is as follows:

It should be marked that the order was issued in reference to the British Emergency Law of year 1945, taking into consideration that this law was abolished.

According to article 119 of that law, “Confiscation” of property means that the owner cannot re-build structures in case of demolition. Land Research Center sees Israeli practices and measures as a collective punishment against the families of martyrs and prisoners.  The occupation seeks to traumatize and humiliate Palestinian families through such practices.

The Israeli government claims such orders to be deterrent for Palestinians who carry out stabbing attacks. Such attacks come in response for colonists’ attacks on Palestinians, the latest of which was represented in torching a family alive, not mentioning running over kids and women, attacks on trees (torching, cutting down, robbing) and lands confiscation
