The Israeli occupation forces halt work in an agricultural land in Beit Ummar/ Hebron governorate

Violation: Halt work on extracting water project and confiscating a machinery.

Date: April 25 -2018.

Location: Beit Ummar / Hebron governorate.

Perpetrator: The Israeli occupation Civil Administration.

Description:

It is reported that the Israeli occupation authorities forced farmers to halt work on a water extraction project in Beit Ummar North Hebron.

Affected citizen Khader Alami (50 years) told LRC observer “we carried out working on a water extraction project in a land I own. After we rented a Water extraction machinery from Jenin and 2 hours of work, a vehicle from the Israeli occupation civil administration and a patrol from the IOF showed up .

An officer from the Israeli civil administration told us that we are not allowed to work in the location and confiscated the machinery and a truck was used in the project. The confiscated vehicles were taken to “Kfar Etzion” settlement.

The owner hired a lawyer to restore the confiscated vehicles, The Israeli authorities agreed only in case the owners closed the hole in Alami land and cover it with cement, and pay a 12,000 NIS fine.

The owner Alami asserted that he owns a 10 dunums land with his brothers cultivated with grapes and almond trees and they were working on extracting artesian water to use in agriculture.

About Beit Ummar:

It is located 12 km to Hebron city. The village’s total area is 21,285 dunums, of which 1,375 dunums are considered the built-up area; around 16, 977 people inhabit Beit Ummar according to 2017 census.

The Israeli occupation authorities confiscated 560 dunums from Beit Ummar for the favor of the bypass road no.60.  The occupation also confiscated 1,216 dunums for the favor of the following colonies:
