New public and commercial buildings in the Israeli settlement of Ma’on

On the 16th of June 2016, the Israeli High planning council in the so-called Israeli Civil Administration published the building scheme No. (508/1/1), in Al Quds Daily Newspaper, for public review. According to the plan published in Al Quds  newspaper, the Israeli land Authority (ILA) will change the status of the land in the plot No.2 part of Khirbet At-Ta’ale area in Yatta town, south of the Hebron Governorate, for the expansion of Ma’on settlement by constructing of public and commercial buildings in addition to open area and a road. The Ad details:

Changing the plan No. 508 and RJ-5, which located in the plot No. 2 in Khirbet At Ta’ale area in Yatta town.

Location of the plan: the piece No. 800 in the Israeli settlement of Ma’on.

The objective of the plan: Change the status of the land from agricultural and open areas, part of residential area No. A and an approval road, to area used for the construction of commercial and public buildings and the suggestion road.

And according to the article No. 20/24 from the Israeli City planning law for villages and building No. 79 for the year 1966, the Israeli Settlement subcommittee of the Israeli Land Authority declared the deposit of the Town Planning Scheme (TPS) No. 508/1/1 in Ma’on settlement (commercial and public buildings), changing the regional master plan RJ-5, and TPS No. 508.

Israeli Plan No. 508/1/1

On the 6th of June 2016,the Israeli Authorities approved the Town Planning Scheme No. 508/1/1, to build commercial and public building in the illegal Israeli settlement of Maon, which occupied Palestinian land at the eastern part of Yatta town, south of Hebron Governorate. According to the aforementioned plan, the new buildings will construct on 8.53 dunums of land, at the northern part of the settlement. See the image of the plan below:

The illegal Israeli Settlement of Ma’on:

Ma’on settlement established on 1980 on Palestinian lands located at the eastern part of Yatta town ,south of Hebron city. Ma’on settlement area reach to 735 dunums of land.  The settlement inhabited by 488 Israeli settlers.

To conclude:

The Israeli Authorities are  moving forward to expand the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Where The expansion of Ma’on settlement one of the examples for the Israeli systematic colonial activists in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The  existence of the Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian Territory including East Jerusalem and their expansions are Illegal and contradicts with the international law rules, United Nations Security Council Resolutions such as 237 (1967), 271 (1969), 446 (1979),  452 (1979) ,465 (1980).

Resolution 446 March 22, 1979 calls on Israel to rescind its previous measures and to desist from taking any action which would result in changing the legal status and geographical nature and materially affecting the demographic composition of the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem and, in particular, not to transfer parts of its own civilian population into the occupied Arab territories'

Also the resolution 452 of the 1979 “calls upon the Government and people of Israel to cease, on an urgent basis, the establishment, construction and planning of settlements in the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem.”
