The dozers of the Israeli occupation forces demolished on January 07, 2016 a residence that is still under construction in the Silwan neighborhood of Ein Al-Luzeh on the claim of “unlicensed construction”. It should be marked that a large number of Police members raided the neighborhood and embarked on demolishing the residence of Nadia Abu Diab.
The father of Nadai told Land Research Center the following: " “The residence was built in 2015 to be home for my daughter and her 5 member family. The stone house is of 130m2 in area and is composed of three bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room. We built the house without a permit because it is impossible to obtain one from the occupation’s municipality. The municipality never issues permits on different claims such like building in area not located within municipal borders. Also, the cost of obtaining a building permit is extremely expensive, which is something no one can afford.
During the construction process on September, a staff from the municipality arrived at the location and hanged a stop-work order on the window of the house. As a result, we sought an Israeli attorney to follow up on our case in the municipality court”.
He also added: “At 6:00 in the morning of Thursday, a massive force from the Israeli police accompanied by dozers arrived at the location and embarked on the demolishing the residence. The demolition lasted until 10:30 in the morning”.
