Violation: demolishing four vegetables stands

Location:  Al Zubeidat village- Jericho

Date:  21/05/2015

Perpetrators: the Israeli occupation army

Victims:  4 Palestinian families

Details:

With a heart full of pain and agony, Citizen AbdelKarim Ayyad (59) on the demolition of his source of livelihood, told a researcher from Land Research Center the following:

“I have been working for 10 years in selling vegetables on stands in the area of Palestinian Jordan valley (Al Ghoor); the occupation demolished my stands more than 12 times. Today, the army troops came and destroyed my source of income; I am in debt now and I have to pay thousands of Shekels from vegetables providers. Also many people got their stands destroyed”.

It should be marked that a massive force from the Israeli occupation army on May 21, 2015 raided the village of al Zubeidat and destroyed a number of vegetables stands that were set up on the sides of the bypass road no. 90.

Demolition reached out four stands (set up under sheds ents). Noteworthy, these stands are considered the only source of income for the following families:

It should be marked that the demolition came surprising after the owners of the business were verbally notified a day earlier. This act was repeated frequently many times during the past couple of years. As a result, the source of income and livelihood of many citizens is now cut off.

Demolition of an irrigation network:

It is indicated in the same context that the Israeli occupation authorities demolished an irrigation network that is of 150 in length via a military dozer. The network including pipes was supposed to serve a 2 dunum plot that is planted with different varieties of vegetables.

Noteworthy, the Israeli occupation banns farmers and other from conducting business or small income-generating projects on the sides of the bypass roads all over the West Bank. It also destroys such structures under the pretext of “security purposes”.
