Stop-work Orders in Al Qanub Area

Violation: stop-work orders for residential and agricultural structures.

Date: March 11, 2013.

Location:  Al Qanub area to the east of Sair – Hebron.

Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Civil Administration.

Victims: members of Shalalda family.

Details:

On March 11, 2013, the Israeli Occupation Civil Administration issued a number of stop-work orders for residential and agricultural structures located in al Qanub area to the east of Sair. Mohammad Shalalda, 66, one of the victims, said that Israeli troops accompanied by officers of the Israeli Occupation Civil Administration broke into the area and began to write the orders and hand them to the owners while taking pictures of them. He also said that some orders were hanged or placed somewhere near the targeted structure. He said than one officer laughed about their expansion and said that they should be limited to two to three dunums only.

The orders were entitled ‘stop-work orders’ targeting residential structures and agricultural ones too. The orders set April 7, 2013 as the date of a hearing session to be Held at Beit El Military Court to decide on the fate of the structures. It is worthy to mention that residents of al Qanub are descendants of generations who resided in the area since the Ottoman era.

The victims said that the order come as a way to impose more pressure on the residents to force them out of the area and make way for the ongoing expansions at Mitsad and Asfar colonies.
