Demolition of Structures in Jericho

Demolition of Structures in Jericho

Violation: demolishing structures in Jericho.

Date: January 16, 2013.

Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Army.

Details:

On the edge of Jericho city lies the dwelling of Al Jahaleen family who have been residing in the area for over 25 years working in herding and agriculture. However, these Bedouins had had to cope with the Israeli constant aggressions which has been done in an attempt to force them out of their lands.

Al Jahaleen used to occupy areas in Beer Shiva before the Israeli conquest of Palestine in 1948. They were displaced and took refuge in areas south of Hebron and the Jordan Valley.

On January 16, 2013, a large Israeli force broke into Al Jahaleen dwelling and embarked on a large-scale demolition campaign. The campaign rendered 4 families (31 people including 15 children) homeless and turned 6 residences, 7 barns, 5 kitchens and 4 toilets into rubble. The owners were not even given the chance to clear the contents of the structures.
