Violation: demolishing a 370-m3-cistern.

Perpetrators: the Israeli Occupation Army.

Details:

 

On July 10, 2012, the Israeli Occupation Authorities demolished a cistern, property of Anas al Sa’id, in ‘Wadi al Sabi” area in Farsh al Hawa in Hebron. The owner stated to an LRC that his neighbors informed him that Israeli troops accompanied by a jackhammer broke into his property to demolish the cistern. He said that they knocked down the cistern which was full of water and destroyed 20 meters of retaining walls in the process. He also said that he never received any warning prior to demolition.

 

The cistern was built of concrete in 1990; it has been used to water around 8 dunums of lands planted with olives. The owner rehabilitated the targeted lands 5 years earlier on his own expense with a total cost of around 15,000 USD.  The Israeli Occupation Authorities demolished 16 cistern in Hebron since the beginning of the year, these include:
