Violation: The demolition of a zinc house as a part of a continuous campaign against Abu Qbeita family.
Date of Violation: The 15th of July, 2010.

Details:
Israeli occupation forces demolished a zinc house owned by Mr. Mohammad Khalil Abu Qbeita in the area of Laseifer in the town of Yatta on July 15th, 2010.

Mr. Abu Qbeiata indicated to the Land Research Center’s field researcher that Israeli occupation forces raided his residence place located in the vicinity of the colony of Beit Yattir and demolished his zinc house. The demolition took place without any prior warning. Abu Qbeita also pointed out that the occupation forces confiscated a caravan bus that was used by Abu Qbeita’s son and his family as a place of residence. These measures are part of a long series of attempts by the occupation forces to force Abu Qbeita family out of their lands as a prelude to it annexation into the colony.

It is worth pointing out that the Abu Qbeita family (n=23 including a 90 year old woman) live on their lands which is located beyond the Racist Israeli Wall. The family lives on herding and farming their land while being subjected to numerous attempts by Israeli colonists and occupation forces to displace them. Family members were granted special permits that allowed them entry into their land through the Beit Yattir checkpoint. Yet, these permits were recently revoked by the Israeli authorities. Members of the family were not allowed access to their lands and residence ever since.
