In the early morning hours of Friday April 16th, 2010 a group of colonists from the colony of Yetzhar raided the town of Huwwara and targeted the mosque of Bilal Ibn Rabah. They spray painted offensive comments against the Prophet Mohammad and drew the Star of David on the walls of the mosque. Moreover, they have burnt down three vehicles owned by Mr. Samir Ibrahim Abu Zaher, Mr. Hasan Awad Hamed and Mr. Ziyas Abdullah Deib. The raging fires destroyed the three cars completely.

It is note worthy that the colonists tried to destroy other residents’ properties but the alertness of the residents prevented that from happening.
In the last two years Israeli colonists have been targeting mosques the last of which was the burning of the mosque in Al Yasuf in December 2009 while spray painting racist and anti-Islam remarks on mosques in Jinsafut, Al Nabi Ilyas, Kufr Laqif and Huwwara without any punitive action against them.
The town of Huwwara, just like all other towns located in the vicinity of the colony of Yetzhar, has been constantly facing colonists’ unwarranted attacks. These attacks took the form of nightly raids and burning Palestinian cars. Since the beginning of the year 2010, 5 Palestinian-owned cars where set ablaze by Yetzhar colonists the latest of which took place 2 months ago when Huwwara was attacked at night and the Volovo truck of Mr. Hani Al Sumeidi was targeted. A similar incident took place in the summer of 2009 when 15 dunums of wheat owned by Mr. Mustafa Fawwaz Mustafa was put on fire. That is in addition to the tens of violations and attacks by the colonists and Israeli occupation soldiers against the village and its inhabitants since the early 1980’s. No punitive actions whatsoever were taken against the perpetrators of these attacks.
Yetzhar Colony:
The colony was established in the year 1983 on Parcel 15 and 16 in the western side of the town of Huwarra. It also devoured lands from the nearby towns of villages of Burin, Einyabbous, Oureef, Assira Al Qiblia and Madama.

The town of Huwwara is located 8 kilometers south of the city of Nablus along Road 60. The population of the town is 5,570. There are three main families in the town; Oudeh, Dumeidi and Khmous. About 3% of the population are registered refugees.
The total area of the town is about 8,520 dunums of which 1,116 dunums are its built-up area. The colony of Yetzhar confiscated 331 dunums of the town’s lands while Road 60 devoured an additional 430 dunums.
