The Israeli claim to evacuate Givat Ha’lopna colony while massive expansions are taking place

Violation: expansion of Givat Ha’lopna near Beit El Colony.

Location: eastern Beit El.

Date: July 8, 2012.

Perpetrators: colonists of Beit El.

Details:

While news about the intended evacuation of 5 colonial units in the colony filled the Israeli newspapers, Israeli colonists embarked on adding a number of mobile homes as well as the building of a park and a playground. All theses expansions were done under the watchful eyes of the Israeli Occupation Army.

It is clear that the expansions are contradictory to the Israeli official statement. However, such maneuvers are an Israeli habit while knowing that colonial expansion is their main goal. The expansion is a step to assure the Israeli right wing disciples despite the International pressure against it.

The Israelis have recently boycotted a committee that was formed by the UN, upon Palestinian request, to investigate the Israeli colonial activities and decided not to receive them in Israel. It must be noted that Givat Ha’lopna was established over an abandoned Israeli Military post edging by-pass ’60’. The post was soon transformed into a colony which has been expanding since. The colony is inhabited by radical and religious Jews despite the fact that it was built over confiscated lands.

Coherently, colonists have blocked a rough road connecting Bitin to the agricultural areas and to Al Bireh city which disconnected the village from its Palestinian surroundings and hindered its development.
